Athirapally has the most spectacular waterfall in Kerala, the God’s own country. The fall lies at the entrance of the Sholayar forest range in the state. This magnificent fall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in India. In a 5 kilometer distance from Athirapally, lies another wonderful waterfall called as Vazhachal waterfalls. Both the alluring waterfalls are visited by hundreds of tourists daily. You can also find another seasonal waterfall named Chapra falls on your way to Vazhachal. Athirapally and Vazhachal fall lay beside the forest in Chalakudy of Thrissur. You’ll be going through dense forest to reach the fall. Due to the surrounding forest, Athirapally has a cool wild atmosphere. The gigantic largest fall in Kerala falls down from the 80-foot height. The greenish hill ranges and huge rocks in the backdrop adds more beauty. The water thrashing down loudly amid the jungle with its sparkling water splashing all around is a spellbinding visual.

Athirapally is a popular tourist spot in Kerala for its alluring waterfalls and wildlife. You can visit Athirapally in any season even though winter is the most advised time. If you’re looking for an escape from the summer heat, you can stop here. As the waterfall is beside jungle heavy summers won’t affect this place. The waterfall flows in its full glory during the heavy monsoon rains. You can come in this season to see this breathtaking visual. But going too near the fall is restricted in some areas as it is risky at this time. If you are an adventure lover go for a jungle jeep safari into the Sholayar forests. The Sholayar forests extend up to Tamil Nadu. You can spot freely wandering wild species on your safari through the forest. Animals like elephants, sambars, sloth bears, etc are often spotted nearby the jungle road. The rugged pathways through the forests will increase your thrill. This forest is also a significant place for bird watching. The night drive is restricted here for the comfort of the wild animals.
Apart from the three waterfalls, the other important attraction in this place include Thumboormuzhi Dam, Butterfly garden, Ezhattumugham, Abhayaranyam, Illithodu, etc. And you can enjoy activities like trekking, swimming, jungle safari, river rafting, etc. in Athirapally. Also, there are a few parks where children can enjoy a lot. Take an extra pair of clothes if you want to jump in the water. Only a few resorts and food stalls are available here for tourists as this place is beside the forest. so, if you are planning your trip here be prepared and reserve early.
